The bill discount scheme is a new proposed monetary benefit which aims to ensure that those living closest to new electricity transmission infrastructure across Great Britain can directly benefit from it. This is in recognition of the wider societal benefits of cheaper, more secure and low-carbon energy that this infrastructure brings.
