Direction issued to the London borough of Tower Hamlets due to its inadequate performance in children's social care services.

Details

This direction requires the council to:

  • comply with the instructions of the Secretary of State in relation to the improvement of its children鈥檚 social care services
  • cooperate with the Secretary of State鈥檚 intervention advisers.

It also requires the independent chair of the council鈥檚 improvement board to report to the Secretary of State, on a quarterly basis, on progress with the implementation and impact of the council鈥檚 improvement plan.

It follows a report by that judged the overall effectiveness of the council鈥檚 children鈥檚 social care services to be 鈥榠nadequate鈥�.

This direction was lifted on 22 July 2019 following a that judged the council鈥檚 children鈥檚 social care services to be 鈥榞ood鈥�.
