This report was commissioned to support Decarbonising transport: a better, greener Britain, the government鈥檚 transport decarbonisation plan for the UK.

BritainThinks completed the research in July 2020 on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT).

The research aimed to:

  • understand the underlying factors of current travel decision-making and future travel intentions
  • identify the impact of COVID-19 in these decisions
  • test a range of sustainable travel policy ideas with the public
  • understand how policy interventions can be optimised to suit how people behave

The main report is accompanied by a shorter quantitative research report and quantitative data tables.
