Please note: the DCMS Science and Research Advisory Committee (SRAC) has been superseded by the DCMS Science Advisory Council.

The Science and Research Advisory Committee (SRAC) is a committee of science experts that has been set up to advise DCMS on developments in science and technology and their implications for DCMS policies and priorities.

DCMS needs the SRAC to:

• provide Ministers, senior DCMS officials and, through the DCMS Advisory board, the Department鈥檚 sponsored bodies with advice on the implications of developments in science and technology for the Department鈥檚 policies and priorities;
• identify the potential impact of wider government policy on science in the DCMS sectors
• identify generic scientific issues which will have an impact across several DCMS sectors and share practice.

Membership

The SRAC is chaired by Mike Dixon, Director of the National History Museum. DCMS is represented by its Head of Analysis who also leads on science for the Department. The secretariat for the committee is provided by Lucy Glazebrook
