Capability Self-Assessment and Action Plan

DCMS’s Capability Self-Assessment provides an assessment against a Civil Service model of the Department’s capability in three key areas:

  • leadership
  • strategy
  • delivery

Capability Reviews were introduced by the Cabinet Office in 2006 to improve accountability and delivery of public services.

  • (PDF 196kb)
  • (RTF 191kb)

The assessment identifies areas of strength for the Department, such as people’s enthusiasm for their work; our internal communications; improved understanding of our vision and purpose; and our ability to deliver results. There are also areas where we need to take action such presenting a clear development offer for staff, embedding visible leadership; and implementing reforms to our delivery mechanisms.
