The Committee on Standards in Public Life has submitted evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee鈥檚 into 鈥榝ake news鈥�. The Select Committee defines fake news as 鈥榯he growing phenomenon of widespread dissemination, through social media and the internet, and acceptance as fact of stories of uncertain provenance or accuracy鈥�.

The submission draws on the Committee on Standards in Public Life鈥檚 recent seminar on the conduct of referendums in the UK.
