Breedon Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number SW/054/0023/007 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising Carboniferous Limestone at Wickwar Quarry, Wickwar, Wotton-Under-Edge, within the boundary of the area formed by the National Grid References ST 71382 90816, ST 72599 90809, ST 72599 89083, and ST 71382 89083 for the purposes of dust suppression and process water.
The variation applied for seeks to increase the maximum abstraction volumes for dust suppression from 12 to 15 cubic metres an hour, 92 to 102 cubic metres per day, and 22,934 to 37,311 cubic metres per year.
The variation also seeks to increase the maximum hourly abstraction volume for process water from 17 to 41 cubic metres and the annual abstraction from 11,811 to 69,000 cubic metres.
