All Basic PAYE Tools users
You should now download HMRC鈥檚 Basic PAYE Tools version 25.1.
If you have already downloaded and installed the Basic PAYE Tools version 25.1 and you鈥檙e still experiencing problems, contact the online services helpdesk.

Problems using Basic PAYE Tools 鈥� white screen
When you open the Basic PAYE Tools you may get a white screen. This could be because your computer does not have Direct X 11 (or greater) capable video hardware. Basic PAYE Tools needs this hardware to open in standard mode.
You should be able to access the tool by switching to assistive mode. Windows users, can access the Basic PAYE Tools assistive mode from the start menu shortcut.
Welsh version of Basic PAYE Tools
You need to set up the Welsh version the first time you open the tool after updating it to the 2025 to 2026 version. You only need to do this once to update the language settings.
On your computer鈥檚 desktop, find Basic PAYE Tool鈥檚 crown logo and follow the steps to set up the Welsh version.
- Right select the logo.
- Select 鈥楲anguage鈥�.
- Select 鈥榃elsh鈥�.
Close and reopen Basic PAYE Tools to view the Welsh version.
