The ASC has a responsibility to take such steps as it sees necessary, and to advise AWERBs, on the diffusion of 鈥榖est practice鈥� relating to the acquisition, breeding, accommodation, care and use of animals protected under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, as amended.

To help fulfil this mandate, the ASC developed a newsletter for AWERBs, called 鈥榯he hub鈥�. This is the second edition of the newsletter which is designed to boost communication between the ASC and AWERBs.
