Following changes to the handling arrangements for heritage related applications which came into force on 15 April 2015, the Directions contained in this circular and in:

  • Circular 01/2001: arrangements for handling heritage applications 鈥� notification and directions by the Secretary of State
  • Circular 08/2009: arrangements for handling heritage applications 鈥� notification to the Secretary of State (England) Direction 2009

were revoked and the circulars (with the exception of Appendix C of Circular 01/01) cancelled.

This circular amends Circular 01/01: Arrangements for Handling Heritage Applications - Notification and Directions by the Secretary of State and Planning Policy Guidance 15: Planning and the Historic Environment (PPG15) to add the Twentieth Century Society to the list of 鈥楴ational Amenity Societies鈥�.

Local planning authorities have to inform these groups of all applications for listed building consent and of the decisions taken by them on applications for demolition of a listed building or alteration of a listed building which comprise or include the demolition of any part of that building.
