Thank you to everyone who has applied to be a member or co-chair of the BSL Advisory Board. Applications closed on Friday 2 September with over 100 applications across England, Wales and Scotland.

The Disability Unit is recruiting for board members and an independent co-chairperson to join a British Sign Language (BSL) Advisory Board.
Members will use their expertise and experience to help ensure the voices of Deaf people are recognised and valued in a way that informs policy and strategy across government.
The first term of the board will be from 2022 to 2025.
Applications closed at 5pm on Friday 2 September 2022.
The capitalised 鈥楧鈥� in 鈥楧eaf鈥� refers to people who have been deaf from birth or early childhood 鈥� all their lives 鈥� and sign language will be their first language. They view themselves as culturally deaf and may identify as being part of the Deaf community. In the UK, the term 鈥榙eaf鈥� is used to refer to all levels of deafness. We will use Deaf in all of our pages in this way.
