Who can apply
You can apply to聽extend your聽stop on a probate application聽(also known as a caveat) if you鈥檙e:
- over 18
- the person who entered the original caveat
- a probate practitioner appointed by the person who entered the original caveat
Fee
It costs 拢3 to extend an application for 6 months.
How to apply
If you鈥檙e the person who entered the original caveat, you must apply by post.
If you鈥檙e a probate practitioner, you can apply by post or email.
You can only apply if the original caveat is due to expire within a month.
Apply by post
- Download the form.
- Fill in all the sections.
- Print the form.
- Sign and date the form.
- Pay the 拢3 application fee by sending a cheque payable to 鈥楬M Courts and Tribunals Service鈥� with your form.
- Send the completed form to:

Apply by email as a probate practitioner

- Sign and date the form.
- Pay the 拢3 application fee using Payment by Account.
