Details
These documents are the advice to government from ACRE on an application C/NL/13/02 to market cut carnation flowers genetically modified for petal colour and herbicide tolerance (originally line FLO-40685-1 but renamed FLO-40685-2). GM marketing applications are decided at EU level and ACRE鈥檚 advice informed the UK opinion sent to the European Commission following the initial consultation of Member States. Following this consultation some Member States asked for additional information and the Commission circulated the applicant鈥檚 response. ACRE considered the new information and has confirmed its earlier opinion. ACRE considers that these carnations would not pose a risk to human health or the environment and agrees with the assessment by the Netherlands which is leading on this application for the EU.
