The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) closed on 31 March 2025. All activity has moved to the Department for Education (DfE). You should continue to follow this guidance.

This good practice guide is for:

  • chief financial officers (CFOs)
  • finance managers
  • anyone responsible for managing accounts in academy trusts

It provides suggestions for preparing management accounts that meet the requirements of the academy trust handbook (ATH).

It does not replace or modify any of the ATH鈥檚 requirements.
