Home Office Research Report 48聽studies聽a dedicated rape investigation unit that was set up as a pilot project in a police force in the south of England. The unit was supported by funding from the Home Office. The Unit became operational in September 2008, and continued for a period of six months. The pilot aimed to establish whether or not a dedicated unit improved the service provided to victims of sexual assault.

This report summarises the findings from a qualitative study of this dedicated sexual assault unit.
