Tim Reid
Biography
Tim is the Chief Executive of UK Export Finance, the UK鈥檚 export credit agency. He is also a Director General in the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). Previously he was a Director General in the Department for International Trade, and a member of its Executive Committee and Management Board.
Tim joined UKEF in 2022 as Director of Business Group. He was previously at HSBC, where he spent 34 years in a variety of roles.
Tim has an international outlook and proven track record helping customers expand their business internationally. At HSBC, he managed businesses across Europe, the Americas and the Middle East and North Africa, and was most recently the Global Head of Transaction Banking for the bank鈥檚 Global Banking division.
Chief Executive
The UK Export Finance (UKEF) Chief Executive Officer is responsible for management of the department as a whole. As Principal Accounting Officer, the CEO is responsible to ministers and Parliament for the management of UKEF鈥檚 operations. UKEF is the UK鈥檚 Export Credit Agency, supporting business of all sizes to invest and export overseas. It is a unique ministerial department reporting to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade. The Chief Executive鈥檚 responsibilities include:
- setting the strategic vision for the department
- facilitating growth of UK exports in line with the government鈥檚 export strategy
- supporting UKEF to provide guarantees to UK exporters to win contracts, fulfil orders and get paid
Director General, UKEF
The Director General sits on the Department for Business and Trade departmental board and executive committee and helps deliver the Secretary of State鈥檚 and Minister for Exports鈥� export priorities.
