Matt Chinn

Biography

Matt was appointed Director of Science Operations and Research in September 2024.

Before joining APHA, Matt was Chief Delivery Officer at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory聽(Dstl). Much of his career has been in public sector research and development including:

  • Head of the Technology and Business Faculty at the Defence Academy of the UK
  • Deputy Chief Scientific Advisor for National Security and Intelligence
  • Head of聽Dstl鈥檚 Chemical and Biological Science and Technology Centre

Matt has a PhD in Chemistry and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Director of Science Operations and Research

The Director of Science Operations and Research is responsible for:

  • the operational delivery of science and research in APHA
  • the quality and integrity of APHA鈥檚 scientific services
  • making sure that the scientific perspective is part of the decision-making in APHA
