Josephine Gauld LVO

Biography
Josephine joined the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in 2002. She has previously served in the democratic Republic of Congo, twice in Cote d鈥橧voire, and Nigeria. She was the British Ambassador to Cote d鈥業voire between 2016 and 2020.
She studied Italian and Philosophy at Leeds University, and MSc in Development Management from the London School of Economics, a Masters in European Public Policy from the universite Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne and a Diploma in Public Administration from l鈥橢cole Nationale d鈥橝dministration (ENA) in France.

British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone
The High Commissioner is the UK government鈥檚 representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
