Geoffrey Spence
Biography
Geoffrey has worked both in private sector infrastructure finance and in Whitehall. From 1995 to 2002 he worked for Deutsche Bank as a Managing Director and head of project finance for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He later moved to the public sector as the head of the Treasury鈥檚 PFI Policy and Private Finance unit for 2 years, before taking a role as Managing Director and Global Head of Infrastructure at HSBC between 2004 and 2007.
Geoffrey was also special advisor to the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, and served on the Treasury鈥檚 Council of Economic Advisors from 2008 until 2010.
Chief Executive, Infrastructure UK
The chief executive is responsible for leading IUK鈥檚 work programme, and provides leadership based on the objectives set out in the National Infrastructure Plan. As well as heading IUK鈥檚 management, the chief executive also works with government departments and the private sector to develop and execute the government鈥檚 infrastructure strategy.
