Student placements, work experience and volunteer roles

Student placements and volunteering provide experience that will help you to stand out from the competition if you鈥檙e considering a career working in the natural environment. We sometimes have opportunities for volunteers on our National Nature Reserves, as voluntary bat roost visitors and in other areas of our work.

Salaries shown are full time equivalents.

An annual London allowance of 拢3,500 is payable to people contractually based in our London office.

Our policy is for new starters to begin at the minimum of the pay group.

Leave entitlement

You鈥檒l get 33 days鈥� annual leave - 3 days have to be taken between Christmas and New Year.

If your manager approves, you can also:

  • buy up to 20 days in any leave year
  • bank up to 5 days at the end of a leave year for future events

In addition, you鈥檒l get 8 days public holiday per year.
