Welsh Secretary welcomes DCMS plans to cut Red Tape

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport today set out plans to deregulate certain forms of entertainment licensing in Wales.

DCMS have today set out their plans to deregulate certain forms of entertainment licensing in Wales, currently licensable under the Licensing Act 2003.聽

David Jones said: 鈥淭he plans announced today聽to reduce regulation for neighbourhood event licensing聽will be welcomed across Wales.聽 Neighbourhood events in community centres, schools and village halls are extremely important culturally and socially, so聽I鈥檓 pleased聽that聽such events聽will no longer require a local authority licence to聽take place.鈥�

DCMS have set out their plans to deregulate certain forms of entertainment licensing currently licensable under the Licensing Act 2003 in a written ministerial statement.聽 These proposals are in response to a consultation exercise carried out in late 2011, to which the Welsh Assembly Government (via their Creative Industries Sector Panel), the Welsh Local Government Association, Welsh Music Foundation and Welsh Council for Voluntary Action were supportive.聽
