The British High Commission is pleased to announce that Sir David King, the UK鈥檚 Foreign Secretary鈥檚 Special Representative for Climate Change will be in Singapore from 28 February to 1 March 2017.

During his visit, Sir David will have a range of meetings with Singapore government and business leaders and deliver a public lecture entitled on 1 March at the Botanic Gardens.

Sir David has published over 500 papers in regards to science, climate change and policy and he has been 22 Honorary Degrees from universities around the world. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Society since 1991; a Foreign Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2002 and was knighted by Her Majesty in 2003. For his work in climate change and energy, he was made an Officer of the French Legion d鈥橦onneur in 2009.

Speaking in advance of the visit, HE Scott Wightman, the British High Commissioner in Singapore, said:

I鈥檓 delighted that Sir David is making this visit to Singapore and the region. Sir David, who is well known to our Singaporean friends, was last here in 2013 as a guest of the Centre for Liveable Cities to share his experience in urban sustainability.

We are looking forward to his lecture at the Botanic Gardens where he will address the impact of Climate Change and the accompanying challenges and opportunities. And I would like to thank the British Council for organising the event and the Energy Institute and the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore for their support.
