ICJ's findings on Myanmar and the Rohingya: UK statement

The Minister for Asia and Pacific responds to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) decision that Myanmar must do more to protect the Rohingya.

Heather Wheeler, Minister for Asia and the Pacific, said:

We welcome the . The Court was clear that Myanmar must do more to protect the Rohingya.

The admission of atrocities and its recommendations are an important first step towards meaningful domestic accountability, though we don鈥檛 agree with much of the Commission鈥檚 analysis.

We encourage the government of Myanmar to comply with the provisional measures, which are legally-binding, and implement the Commission鈥檚 recommendations.
