Lt Col Philip Osment, UK Defence Attach茅 to Croatia between 2010-13, was presented with a 鈥瀂ahvalnica鈥 (Certificate of Merit) by Croatian Defence Minister Mr Ante Kotromanovi膰. Mr Kotromanovi膰 said that Lt Col Osment deserved the award for his 鈥瀍xtraordinary contribution to the development and improvement of bilateral defence cooperation鈥 between UK and Croatia.

Mr Kotromanovi膰 said that the improvement in the bilateral defence cooperation had also contributed to the 鈥瀞trengthening of the partnership and building trust鈥 between UK and Croatia. During Lt Col Osment鈥檚 tenure as Defence Attach茅 to Croatia, UK deployed an Army unit to Croatia for the first time, when UK and Croatian troops trained together at Slunj, as part of the 2013 SAVA STAR exercise. That series of exercises will now continue on an annual basis.

Lt Col Osment is also responsible for improving relations between the two Navies, particularly in securing various training courses in the UK for Croatian navy officers and cadets. The ceremony was held in the Ministry of Defence and attended by Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Drago Lovri膰, Assistant Defence Minister Zoran Dr膷a and UK Ambassador to Croatia, David Slinn.
