Tourism firms join 20.12 per cent discount scheme
Culture Secretary urges more businesses to take advantage of Olympic opportunities.

Some of the country鈥檚 top holiday brands have signed up to a new discount scheme inspired by .
Speaking at the , Culture Secretary announced that firms including Bourne Leisure, Superbreaks and Hoseasons are taking part in the 20.12 per cent discount scheme.
The initiative will be launched next year by as part of a campaign to use the Games to boost domestic tourism. Under the scheme, holidaymakers booking a UK short break before the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games will be eligible for a 20.12 per cent discount.
Mr Hunt urged tourism businesses around the country to make the most of a 鈥渙nce-in-a-lifetime opportunity鈥� to showcase the best of Britain.
鈥淲e want to show all the wonderful things Britain has to offer to an international audience, but next year will be the perfect opportunity for more of us to holiday in the UK,鈥� he added. 鈥淲ith so much going on, and the fantastic 20.12% discount scheme, it鈥檚 a great opportunity to see what Britain has to offer.鈥�
Regional roadshow
The Culture Secretary also announced that he will be taking a 鈥榬egional roadshow鈥� around the country to promote the tourism, cultural and business opportunities of the 2012 Games, beginning in Cumbria on Wednesday.
鈥淭his is a Games for everyone, not just London, and it鈥檚 the perfect chance for communities everywhere to make the very most of it,鈥� Mr Hunt said.
The Government is set to invest a further 拢39 million in the recently-launched to promote the UK as a great place to visit, study and work. Including some of this new money, plus private sector support, will invest about 拢127 million in overseas promotion.
