'Taste of Scotland' food showcase hosted by Scottish Secretary

Ahead of St Andrew's Day, Scottish Secretary Alister Jack showed the best of Scottish food and drink to an audience of diplomats and parliamentarians.

Some of Scotland鈥檚 finest food and drink producers were showcased in London yesterday [23 November] at a 鈥楾aste of Scotland鈥� event hosted by Scottish Secretary Alister Jack.

Held in Dover House on Whitehall, the Scotland Office鈥檚 London headquarters, the event displayed some of Scotland鈥檚 finest products to an influential audience of global diplomats.

The normally annual event 鈥� back for the first time after the pandemic 鈥� helps Scottish manufacturers expand their export markets.

A fantastic array of products were on display from across Scotland. They included Kirkjuvagr Orkney Gin, Laphroaig single malt, oatcakes from Orkney, Loch Fyne smoked salmon, and luxury scents from Arran. Plus everyone鈥檚 favourites 鈥� Tunnocks and Irn Bru.

Speaking ahead of the event, Scottish Secretary Alister Jack said:

Scotland produces some of the most popular and iconic food and drink enjoyed by people at home and across the world.

I鈥檓 very much looking forward to meeting the talented businesses at our 鈥楾aste of Scotland鈥� event. Coming ahead of St Andrew鈥檚 day, it will be a great opportunity to showcase the best of Scotland.

With our newly published export strategy, the UK Government is equipping Scottish firms with the tools they need to take advantage of new export opportunities opening up around the globe.

The event follows the launch of the UK Government鈥檚 ambitious new 鈥楳ade in the UK, Sold to the World鈥� plan to support businesses across the UK double global exports. The 12-point Export Strategy will give Scottish producers the tools they need to help sell their world-class products around the globe.

The Department for International Trade is also extending its Export Academy to Scotland to help first-time exporters access masterclasses, roundtables and networking events.
