Royal Navy works with Vietnam Coast Guard

Experts from the Royal Navy鈥檚 International Maritime Training Team have visited Vietnam to help train Vietnam Coast Guard personnel.

As part of a programme to support and enhance the ability of the Vietnam Coast Guard to monitor and police Vietnam鈥檚 internationally-recognised Exclusive Economic Zone, instructors from the Royal Navy鈥檚 International Maritime Training Team held a week-long training course at Vietnam Coast Guard Region 1 Headquarters, Hai Phong from 11-15 May 2018.

The 鈥楳aritime Security Operations Course鈥� covered topics such as International Maritime Law, Embarked Aviation, Rules of Engagement, International Ship & Port Security and Maritime Security.

All 31 students from the Vietnam Coast Guard, Vietnam People鈥檚 Navy and Vietnam Border Guard completed the course successfully and were awarded certificates by the UK Defence Attach茅 Group Captain David Houghton. Later this year Royal Navy instructors will return to Vietnam to support further training courses for Vietnam Coast Guard personnel.
