The British High Commission is pleased to announce that Professor Robin Grimes, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office鈥檚 Chief Scientific Adviser will be in Singapore from 16 - 17 March 2017.

During his visit, Professor Grimes will have a wide range of meetings with leading members of Singapore鈥檚 research & development and scientific community. He will also speak at lectures hosted by the National University of Singapore and the National Environment Agency as well as deliver the British High Commission鈥檚 Distinguished Visitor Lecture at Eden Hall on 鈥楿K Science Landscape 鈥� Our Commitment to Excellence鈥�.

As the FCO鈥檚 Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Grime is responsible for providing advice to the Foreign Secretary, Ministers and officials on science, technology and innovation. His role is to ensure that our work on key issues undergoes proper scientific challenge and, as Head of Profession for Science and Engineering, to strengthen the scientific and engineering capacity within the Foreign Office. He also works closely with the cross-government community of Chief Scientific Advisers and the wider UK and international academic science community.

Speaking in advance of the visit, HE Scott Wightman, the British High Commissioner in Singapore, said:

The High Commission is delighted that Professor Grimes is visiting Singapore and the region. His visit and especially his calls on the leaders of Singapore鈥檚 science and research communities will strengthen the good relationships United Kingdom has here and help promote Singapore and the UK鈥檚 shared goals in the advancement of education, scientific advancement and prosperity.

We are also delighted that Professor Grimes will be delivering the Distinguished Visitor鈥檚 Lecture at Eden Hall on the UK鈥檚 science landscape and its commitment to excellence.
