New Minister for ECGD
Stephen Green, former chairman of HSBC, was appointed Minister for Trade with responsibility for ECGD and UKTI.

Stephen Green, former chairman of HSBC, was today appointed Minister for Trade with responsibility for the Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD)聽and UK Trade and Investment.
ECGD鈥檚 Chairman Guy Beringer welcomed Lord Green鈥檚 appointment.
Stephen鈥檚 formidable background in banking means he already has a good knowledge of many of the problems facing British businesses. We look forward to working with him to help our exporters make the most of the opportunities to boost British trade.
ECGD鈥檚 Chief Executive Patrick Crawford added:

Lord Green started his career as a civil servant at the former Ministry of Overseas Development. He joined HSBC in 1982 and was appointed group chairman in 2006.聽 He is a former chairman of the British Bankers鈥� Association and the Prime Minister鈥檚 Business Council for Britain.
