New member appointed to the Independent Reconfiguration Panel
The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has appointed Mark Cheetham as a new clinical member of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel.
Mark Cheetham has聽been appointed as a clinical member of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel for four years from聽1 November 2024 to 31 October 2028.聽
Mark is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and the National Clinical Lead for General Surgery at the Getting it Right First Time Programme in NHS England.
The Independent Reconfiguration Panel provides independent advice to the government about reconfigurations and changes to NHS services in England.
This role will involve a time commitment of 1 to 2 days per month, and remuneration at 拢300 per day.鈥�
This appointment is made in accordance with the Cabinet Office Code of Governance for Public Appointments.聽The regulation of public appointments against the requirements of this code is carried out by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.聽聽
This appointment is made on merit and political activity played no part in the decision process. However, in accordance with the code, there is a requirement for appointees鈥� political activity (if any declared) to be made public.聽Mark has not declared any political activity.
