MPs' outside interests: Committee announces short review

The independent Committee on Standards in Public Life has today announced a short review on the subject of MPs' outside interests.

Lord Bew, Chair of the independent Committee on Standards in Public Life, said:

The Committee met today and discussed the subject of MPs鈥� outside interests.

We will make a further submission on 鈥榬easonable limits鈥� for outside interests to the Commons Committee on Standards鈥� on-going into the Code of Conduct for MPs. We will be holding a short review to inform our submission. Given the public interest in these issues, we welcome contributions from all interested parties. Further information on how to contribute to the review is on our website.

  2. The independent Committee on Standards in Public Life advises the Prime Minister on ethical standards across the whole of public life in the UK. It monitors and reports on issues relating to the standards of conduct of all public office holders.
  3. The Committee made a number of recommendations on MPs鈥� outside interests as part of its inquiry into MPs鈥� expenses in 2009.
