Transcript from the interview

Question: With the row going on now with the passports is that a good opportunity for you to remind people that if they are struggling to get passports they can avoid the hassle and just holiday in the UK?

Helen Grant

It鈥檚 about choice at the end of the day people should do what they want. I would have to say I grew up in Cumbria just on the edge of the Lake District and my constituency is the heart of the garden of England I鈥檓 probably biased but I think those two areas are two jewels in a very rich crown. There鈥檚 a lot to be said for the staycation I think people want to do what they like. I think we will have a great summer and a great summer of sport too, there鈥檚 a lot of opportunity to build your holiday around a spoilt for choice list, Tour de France, we鈥檝e got the golf, we鈥檝e got the Commonwealth Games, we鈥檝e got the football on the TV, we will be spoilt for choice in terms of sport here and it鈥檚 a wonderful place to have a holiday.

Question: So if you don鈥檛 get your passport it鈥檚 not the end of the world?

Helen Grant

Well I鈥檓 sure you will do, I鈥檓 very confident, I have no doubt you will do. But if you don鈥檛 want to go away we have some fantastic holidays here.
