Forensic Science Regulator honoured with CBE
Dr Gillian Tully has been honoured with a CBE for her services to forensic science.
The Forensic Science Regulator features in this year鈥檚 Queen鈥檚 Birthday Honours List, which was published on Saturday 10 October. It recognises people across the country for their outstanding contributions to UK society.
Dr Tully has worked in forensic science for over 30 years, specialising in DNA, innovation, validation and enhancement of quality standards. Her work has included provision of expert evidence to courts in the UK and overseas, and extensive collaborative working with forensic practitioners around the world.
Since taking up the appointment of Forensic Science Regulator in November 2014, she has campaigned for improvements in the quality and reliability of forensic science and statutory powers to enable the office to uphold standards.

I am delighted to receive this honour and truly grateful to have the opportunity to influence forensic science, which is so vital to the effective delivery of justice.
I would like to thank the team at the Home Office鈥檚 Forensic Science Regulation Unit for their tireless work in the background to support the Regulator, and all of the forensic scientists on the frontline delivering services to our criminal justice system.
I鈥檓 extremely pleased to see that Dr Jeff Adams鈥� contribution to the unit over many years has also been honoured with a well-deserved OBE.
