Foreign Office Minister welcomes Commonwealth All-Party Parliamentary Group
Minister for the Commonwealth Lord Howell welcomed the launch of the new All-Party Parliamentary group

On 13 March, Minister for the Commonwealth Lord Howell attended the launch of the Commonwealth All-Party Parliamentary Group, chaired by Richard Graham MP.
Welcoming the launch of the APPG, Lord Howell said that the Commonwealth was a 鈥渘ecessary network of the 21st century鈥� and highlighted the relationship between the Commonwealth鈥檚 values of democracy, human rights and good governance and the prosperity of the citizens of the Commonwealth.
The Group鈥檚 objectives are:
- To ensure members are kept briefed by the Commonwealth Secretariat on developments to strengthen the Commonwealth network
- To keep members fully aware of the range of non-parliamentary activities and programmes carried out under the Commonwealth brand, both on Governmental and non-governmental levels
- To take advantage of opportunities of the developing Commonwealth network for Britain鈥檚 political and commercial activities, and for Britain鈥檚 general positioning in the new international landscape
