Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister of State Jeremy Browne鈥檚 visit to Hong Kong
Jeremy Browne MP visited Hong Kong today as part of his first visit to Asia as a Government Minister.

In a busy programme, Mr Browne met Chief Executive Mr Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Mr Norman Chan, business leaders, and shared a dim sum lunch with a group of legislators.

Before leaving Hong Kong, Mr Browne said: 鈥淎sia, China and Hong Kong are major priorities for the new Government. We have a special relationship with Hong Kong鈥ur new British Government will place a very strong emphasis on open markets and free trade鈥e believe that these are routes to greater shared prosperity. (Regarding constitutional reform) We are enthusiastic about the progress that has been made鈥� A more stable and prosperous Hong Kong is underpinned by greater rights and freedoms of the people of Hong Kong. We regard (the passage of the Government鈥檚 proposals on 2012) as a welcome development.鈥�
