Poppy Appeal
The British Embassy Quito will again this year show its support for the , an annual fundraising campaign to help British Armed Forces and their families.
From the end of October until Remembrance Day on 11th November 2013, the traditional poppy badges will be available in exchange for a donation at the British Embassy in Quito, the British Consulate in Guayaquil, British-Ecuadorean Chamber of Commerce and the British School Quito.
The Poppy Appeal began in 1921 and ever since has been a vital source of funding to the Royal British Legion鈥檚 work in providing financial advice, access to care and help in the home, bereavement support and many other services to former and current servicemen and women, and their families.
The poppies came into being from the John McCrae poem 鈥業n Flanders Fields鈥� and the poppy badges are traditionally made by hand in the 鈥楶oppy Factory鈥� by disabled ex-servicemen and women.
