A number of high level government officials from Central American countries, including Costa Rica and Nicaragua, are currently on a study visit in London, United Kingdom, to learn more about the British government鈥檚 experiences in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and infrastructure delivery.

Representing Costa Rica are Mr. Mauricio Gonzalez Quesada, Vice Minister of Infrastructure in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport; Mr. Daniel Uba Fallas from the Department of Public Investment in the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy; and Ms. Paola Benavides Chavez from the Department of Public Credit in the Ministry of Finance.

The intensive five-day programme, being delivered by Infrastructure UK, a unit of Her Majesty鈥檚 Treasury in charge of advising Government on the long term planning, delivery and financing of infrastructure, will combine learning sessions at Her Majesty鈥檚 Treasury, practical case studies of both successful and unsuccessful projects, sector-specific and issue-specific workshops, site visits to operational PPP projects in the UK and round tables with UK Trade and Investment and UK companies interested in the region.

The study visit, which concludes on 6 February, will also give Infrastructure UK the opportunity to discuss with the senior Central American officials the specific needs of their respective countries in terms of policy, guidance, capacity building and technical advisory support.
