In a letter in response to one previously sent by the Secretary of State requesting advice, the Committee on Climate Change has said the UK’s 15% target for 2020 under the EU 2020 Climate and Energy package should neither be reduced nor increased. It claims the current ambition is desirable in that it would make an appropriate contribution towards meeting carbon budgets.
