Armitt report hails construction of Olympic Park a superb advertisement for UK

Olympic project a perfect mix of expertise, imagination and ambition.

A report by Olympic Delivery Authority聽chairman聽Sir John Armitt published today, hails聽the construction of the Olympic Park as 鈥渁 superb advertisement for UK plc鈥� and higlhlights that British companies 鈥渘ow have precious experience that they can use to win business at home and abroad鈥�.

The was warmly welcomed by Jeremy Hunt, who commissioned Mr Armitt to look at how UK businesses can maximise the benefits of the construction of the Games. In total 250 businesses聽who worked on the Olympic Park were asked about how working on London 2012 had affected their companies, including the impact on staff, finances, reputation and future prospects.

The Report鈥檚 key recommendations

  • Government should adopt the principles of the procurement and programme management approach used by the ODA
  • should maximise the promotion of British business achievements in delivering major sporting events
  • The Government should take urgent action to ensure that marketing restrictions applying to London 2012 suppliers are relaxed as soon as possible after the Games
  • The should be retained for all public sector projects
  • The should be continued after the Games and broadened to include other successful projects
  • Small and medium-sized businesses need more help to access existing support in working overseas
