Detail of outcome

The Competition and Markets Authority sought views on its proposed recommendation to the Secretary of State to extend the PTTSBE without fixed duration under section 8(4) of the CA98. Stakeholders were broadly supportive of the CMA鈥檚 proposed recommendation, including the CMA鈥檚 proposals for modification of the PTTSBE.

Having carefully considered the various issues, the CMA is recommending that the Secretary of State vary the existing PTTSBE so that it will continue without a fixed duration. Although the CMA does not consider it necessary to introduce fundamental changes to the PTTSBE, the CMA recommends that the PTTSBE be varied in certain other limited respects.
