We are introducing a master鈥檚 loan scheme, whereby master鈥檚 students under 60 can access a loan of up to 拢10,000 as a contribution towards the cost of their study.

The master鈥檚 loan scheme is part of the government鈥檚 long-term commitment to enhance support for postgraduate study. This will make the UK more globally competitive by increasing the number of those with high-level skills and knowledge.

Consultation description

We want to know your views on a proposed loan system for postgraduate taught master鈥檚 students. Under the scheme, anyone under 30 who is eligible and accepted to study will be able to apply for a loan of up to 拢10,000.

The evidence and responses will inform the design and final terms of the proposed loan scheme.

We are also seeking views and evidence on how we can improve support for postgraduate research students.
