JSP 375 is the corporate publication that provides guidance to defence in meeting its legal health and safety obligations, providing a common structure for the organisation and arrangements for the day-to-day management of health and safety within defence. JSP 375 provides the direction that must be followed in accordance with statute or policy mandated by defence or on defence by central government and the guidance and best practice that will assist the user to comply.

JSP 375 is subject to a 5-year rolling programme of review and update, please read the programme plan of chapters to be reviewed by priority and year. This plan will be updated to reflect changing priorities and refreshed accordingly.

JSP 375 is now structured as a single-part publication with 3 sub-volumes. Each volume has chapters that contain the policy and direction on health and safety in defence and the guidance and good practice for applying that policy. The volumes are:

• volume 1 - covers the basic arrangements for Defence compliance with Health and Safety legislation
• volume 2 - details the common standard for Health and Safety audits within defence
• volume 3 - covers the high risk activities on the defence estate
