In England and Wales, within the terms of the聽, only a registered practitioner can terminate a pregnancy. Practitioners carrying out an abortion must complete an聽abortion notification form (HSA4) and submit it to the Chief Medical Officer聽within 14 days of the procedure.
Non-NHS clinics and hospitals聽must be approved by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care before providing treatment聽for the termination of pregnancy (abortion).
