Southend鈥檚 拢19.9 million infrastructure upgrades
Southend was allocated 拢19.9 million from the Levelling Up Fund to support local facilities and boost the tourism economy.
Renovation of Leigh Port
Plans for the funding will improve Leigh Port by:
- resurfacing the wharf to make it safe for locals and visitors
- dredging the area beside the quay wall and channel
- constructing a quay wall frontage around the port
- improving access to the site
Other infrastructure improvements in Southend
Other plans for the funding include:
- investing in hospitality and visitor areas
- refurbishing Cliffs Pavilion entertainment venues
Funding will also support essential maintenance and flood prevention measures across the:
- wider seafront
- Marine Parade
- town centre
