GTR's Try a Train days help to increase passengers' confidence

Govia Thameslink Railway offer 'Try a Train' events to help passengers build confidence.

Try a Train day

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) offer an ongoing programme of 鈥楾ry a Train鈥 events. These provide an opportunity for people who lack confidence travelling by train to visit stations and to experience a train journey.

The events are promoted through GTR鈥檚 local stakeholders and are normally organised by their internal network of access ambassadors.

Feedback is gathered after each event to gauge the extent to which the objective of increasing travel confidence has been met.

A passenger commented:

I can鈥檛 remember when I last caught a train, I think it was 1999. As part of the 鈥楾ry a Train鈥 day, Joe helped me to buy a ticket. I am now much more confident about using trains. Next time I will come back and bring the kids! The day has been really fun and I鈥檝e had a good time and met new people.
