Almost £20 million for housing and transport improvements in BartonÌý(Levelling Up Fund 2)

Almost £20 million from the Levelling Up Fund was awarded to North Lincolnshire Council to revolutionise travel in Barton.

The package of projects will open land for housing and enable easier travel throughout the town.Ìý

Levelling Up funding will support the creation of the Barton-upon-Humber link road that will connect Barrow Road, the A1077 and Caistor Road.ÌýÌý

The funding will support phase one of the development which includes:ÌýÌý

  • junction upgrades on the A1077/ Falkland Way Junction to Caistor RoadÌý
  • improvements to the Holydyke JunctionÌýÌý
  • a new route for cyclists and pedestrians on both sides of the link roadÌý

The Link Road will unlock land that is expected to deliver over 200 homes.Ìý

Active Travel RoutesÌýÌý

A new network of travel routes for cyclists and pedestrians will be built throughout Barton town centre. This will better connect the local community with:ÌýÌý

  • local destinations such as Waters Edge Country Park, Humber Bridge and Baysgarth ParkÌý
  • Barton-on-Humber Railway stationÌý
  • local schools and employment sitesÌý
  • other key servicesÌý

The Active Travel Routes will also connect Barrow-upon-Humber, providing better access to schools in this area.ÌýÌý

The network will connect people with the wider natural landscape and promote healthier lifestyles.ÌýÌý

Barton-upon-Humber Station Mobility HubÌý

New facilities at Barton-on-Humber Railway and Bus Station will improve the experience for passengers using the rail and bus station.ÌýÌý

The hub will include:Ìý

  • covered bike stands and electric bike chargingÌýÌý
  • 31 new car parking spaces and Electric Vehicle charging pointsÌýÌý
  • improved bus shelters and pavingÌý
  • real-time passenger informationÌýÌý
