拢7.7 million invested in Camden (Levelling Up Fund 2)
Over 拢7.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund will support three key projects in the London Borough Camden to deliver a 鈥淗ealthy and Connected Neighbourhood鈥� across Haverstock, Gospel Oak, and Kentish Town South.
Improving Talacre Community Sports Centre and open space听
Talacre Community Sports Centre is a popular and unique community and family facility in Camden. Levelling Up funding will support the remodelling and extension of the building to allow more people to take part in a broader range of activities.听听
Improvements to the centre include:听听
- new flexible spaces for the community听
- increased gymnastic facilities to soak up excess demand听
- formal education programmes to take part in the centre, aimed at young people not currently in full time education, employment, and training听
Improvements will also be made to the Talacre Town Green adjacent to the sports centre.听
Active travel improvements throughout the local area听
A variety of transport upgrades will promote active travel and make the streets safer and healthier.听听
This includes:听
- 6 new green mobility hubs that will offer a mix of sustainable transport options听
- 4 new transformational safe and healthy streets schemes听听
A new Neighbourhood Space on Prince of Wales Road听听
Levelling Up funding will also redevelop the local 2 Prince of Wales Road building into a space that connects and supports residents, community organisations, and businesses by offering:听
- affordable coworking space for local start-ups and SMEs听
- a community sector co-working space and event space听听
- various flexible use rooms听
