The Mid Cornwall Metro (MCM) links the north and south coast of Cornwall by providing an hourly direct train service on the existing railway line. This connects four of Cornwall鈥檚 largest urban areas: Newquay, St Austell, Truro and Falmouth/Penryn.听

Improvements to the Newquay Branch Line听

拢32 million has been allocated for improvements on the Newquay Branch Line. This will ensure more frequent services and capacity between Newquay, Falmouth and intercity services. Improvements include:听

• a new platform at Newquay Station听
• a new passing loop鈥痮n the Newquay branch line at Tregoss Moor听
• a new signalling panel at Goonbarrow听
• a new accessible lift bridge at Par Station听
• upgrades to level crossings听
• extended platforms at Falmouth Docks and Falmouth Town Stations听

Improving travel to and from the station听听

拢18 million is allocated to 鈥榝irst and last mile鈥� measures that are designed to improve people鈥檚 journeys to and from stations along the MCM. This includes:听

• mobility measures and station side passenger improvements, including new toilets听听
• improved streetscape and a new walking and cycling network linking Falmouth to Penryn听听
• e-bike hire linking rail stations with town centres, student facilities, and new areas of housing听
• area traffic management and travel improvements to Bugle and Roche stations听
• extension of the 鈥榯ap on/ tap off鈥� digital ticket system across a number of stations听

A cleaner, greener, fairer and more inclusive Cornwall听

The MCM will 鈥楲evel Up鈥� access to jobs, skills, education and amenities in one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in the UK. This will support economic growth across the region.听
