£47.8 million allocation for Peterborough Train Station (Levelling Up Fund 2)

Plans for the allocation are to regenerate the area around the train station � known as Station Quarter.

Transformation of the stationÌý

Plans for the funding will transform Station Quarter, creating an improved gateway to Peterborough and Cambridgeshire on the East Coast Main Line.Ìý

Improvements to the station entrance include:ÌýÌý

  • building a new western station entrance, creating a double-sided stationÌý
  • creation of new car park closer to the station entranceÌý
  • an improved footbridge over the train linesÌý
  • new green areas with community spaces and better connections to the city centreÌý

A boost for the regionÌý

The station improvements will:ÌýÌý

  • encourage more rail travelÌý
  • improve rail passenger journeysÌý
  • make the city safer and easier for pedestriansÌý
  • bring more jobs and visitors to the areaÌý
