拢38.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been provisionally allocated to Renfrewshire to improve travel links.

拢38.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been provisionally allocated to Renfrewshire to improve travel links between:

  • the towns of Paisley, Renfrew and beyond across Renfrewshire

Included in the plans are:

  • a new gateway route along Abercorn Street and Harbour Road
  • new and improved dedicated cycling and walking routes
  • new roads and bridge crossings
  • environmental improvements
  • street design improvements

The planned project will provide improvements for:

  • public transport
  • pedestrians
  • motorists
  • cyclists

The aims of the project include:

  • improving access and connections to employment, education and leisure
  • providing safer pedestrian and cycline infrastructure
  • cutting carbon emissions with traffic calming measures and encouraging active travel
  • creating new job opportunities in the area
  • help existing and new companies grow
  • boosting the local economy
